Allison Strobel Appointed Inaugural Executive Director of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation (HPEF)

HOBOKEN, NJ – April 9, 2024 – The Hoboken Public Education Foundation (HPEF) proudly announces the appointment of Allison Strobel as its inaugural Executive Director. With over a decade of nonprofit and public sector leadership experience, Strobel is poised to lead HPEF into its next chapter of growth and community impact.

HPEF, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) established in 2015, is dedicated to enhancing the public education experience for all students in the district through private funding. With a mission to support and strengthen the Hoboken Public School District, HPEF endeavors to foster innovation and enrich educational programs for the benefit of students, parents, and the community at large.

“The appointment of our inaugural executive director marks an exciting new chapter for HPEF,” said Co-Founder and President, Jackie Dowd. “It's important to emphasize that this role is not about replacing any functions of our current board; rather, it's about enhancing our capabilities and expanding our reach. Together, with our dedicated board and our new executive director, we are poised to achieve even greater heights and make a bigger impact for the benefit of our Hoboken students.”

In her role as Executive Director, Strobel will oversee all aspects of HPEF operations, fundraising, community impact and engagement, and strategic planning. With a focus on expanding the foundation's capacity to serve the diverse needs of Hoboken Public School students, Strobel will work closely alongside HPEF’s Board of Directors to develop and execute strategic initiatives that align with HPEF's mission and objectives.

Strobel brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Most recently, she managed the development and early implementation of a pioneering $100 million grant program aimed at building broadband infrastructure in affordable housing properties across New York for the State’s broadband office. Prior to this, she served as Chief of Staff and Director of Resident Empowerment and Community Engagement at the Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) for over five years, where she coordinated strategic interdepartmental collaboration and operations, and developed and oversaw partnerships with dozens of local, state, and national organizations to offer a range of services and resources to JCHA’s nearly 15,000 residents.

"I am honored to join the Hoboken Public Education Foundation as its inaugural Executive Director," said Strobel. "With two children attending Hoboken Public Schools who have already benefited from HPEF’s funding initiatives, I am deeply committed to the mission of enhancing public education in Hoboken. I am excited to work collaboratively with the Board, District Superintendent Christine Johnson, stakeholders, and the community to ensure every student has access to high-quality educational enhancements."

Strobel's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for HPEF, offering an opportunity to further elevate the public education experience in Hoboken and drive lasting impact for students across the district. Her proven track record of strategic leadership, partnership development, and program planning and implementation will be invaluable as HPEF continues to grow and evolve.

Strobel has been a resident of Hoboken since 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Boston University and a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University.
